Reservations
How do I reserve a Jeep?
Use the reservation form — it takes under 60 seconds. Pick your island, dates, and vehicle, and we text back from a real Hawaiʻi number to confirm your Hawaii Lifted Jeep Rentals. No card needed to hold.
Do I need a credit card to make a reservation?
No card is needed to hold a vehicle. We confirm by text and collect payment at pickup. This lets you lock in your preferred car rental Hawaii Jeep without a credit card charge on the spot.
How fast will I get a confirmation?
Usually within the hour during Hawaiʻi business hours (7 am – 7 pm HST). We reply from a real Hawaiʻi number — not a bot, not a form email.
What is the minimum rental duration?
Three-day minimum for most rentals. Five-day minimum during peak weeks (December–March and June–August). Most car rental Big Island, Hawaii, and Kauaʻi guests stay seven days — enough to explore without rushing.
Can I cancel or modify my reservation?
Yes. We're flexible. Text or call (808) 657-4807 and we'll adjust your dates or vehicle. See our Rental Terms for full cancellation details.
Can two people be on the rental agreement?
Yes. Every car rental in Hawaii includes two named drivers at no extra charge. Additional drivers can be added for a small fee.
Vehicles & Off-Road
Can your Jeeps legally drive Mauna Kea?
Yes. Our Wrangler Rubicons and Rubicon Extreme Recons are the only car rental Big Island, Hawaii fleet contractually approved for the Mauna Kea Access Road and the summit road above the Visitor Information Station. Most rental companies explicitly prohibit anything above the VIS.
What is 4WD-Low and why does it matter for Hawaiʻi?
4WD-Low is a low-range gear that multiplies torque for steep or loose terrain — volcanic gravel, lava roads, steep dunes. Most crossovers sold as "4WD" or "AWD" do not have a true low-range transfer case. Our Jeep rental Kona Wrangler Rubicons all do, and it's why they're approved for Mauna Kea, while others are not.
What is the best vehicle for Mauna Kea?
The Rubicon Extreme Recon — factory 35-inch tires, 4.88 axle ratio, and a 4:1 crawl ratio make it the most capable car rental Kona vehicle for the access road and summit. The standard Wrangler Rubicon is the right second choice.
Can I drive to Polihale State Park on Kauaʻi?
Yes. Our lifted Wranglers and Rubicons handle the unpaved access road to Polihale comfortably. Most mainstream car rental Kauai contracts prohibit leaving paved roads entirely. We will brief you on the current conditions at vehicle pickup.
Do your vehicles have removable doors and tops?
Several vehicles in the fleet do — including the Wrangler Rubicon and Sport models. Ask us at booking, and we can prepare the vehicle in an open-air style. Some guests prefer this for coastal drives; others prefer the closed cab for Mauna Kea's colder summit temps.
How many passengers can fit?
Most Wranglers seat 5. The Grand Wagoneer seats 7 across three rows. See the full fleet for seat counts on each vehicle.
Airports & Pickup
Do you offer airport pickup at KOA, ITO, and LIH?
Yes. We offer concierge curbside meet-and-greet for every car rental in Hawaii at all three airports: Kona International (KOA) and Lihuʻe (LIH). Flat $129 round-trip. A real human meets you at the curb, hands you the keys, and walks you through the vehicle.
Can you deliver to my hotel or vacation rental?
Yes. We deliver and pick up at most resorts, vacation rentals, and condos on both the car rental Kailua-Kona side and Kauaʻi. Delivery fees vary by distance — ask us when you book.
What if my flight is delayed?
Text us your updated flight number — we track arrivals and adjust. No penalty, no fee. We'd rather wait than have you scrambling at the curb.
What happens at pickup?
We do a full walk-around video together before you drive — every panel, every scratch documented. We go over the 4WD system, the vehicle quirks, and any current road conditions for your car rental Kona route. The whole handoff takes about 15 minutes.
Where do I return the vehicle?
Same airport where you picked up, or another designated return point. Same-island returns are free. We arrange inter-island logistics on request — text us, and we'll work it out.
Pricing & Deposits
What is included in the rental price?
Every car rental in Kona or Kauaʻi rental includes: unlimited miles, taxes, two named drivers, a local travel guide, and 24/7 local phone support. No tracker fees. No surprise cleaning surcharges. No upsell gauntlet at pickup.
How does the damage deposit work?
A standard hold is placed on your card at pickup. We walk through every panel together on a documented video before and after your Kona car rental trip. The hold is released after a clean return inspection. We only charge for damage we can show you on the vehicle.
How do I protect my deposit?
Read our deposit protection guide — we wrote it for our own renters. The five things that most commonly cost a deposit back are: under-rim wheel scuffs, interior food stains, surfboard tie-down scratches on the roof, windshield chips, and returning below the agreed fuel level.
Do you have hidden fees?
No. What you see in the quote is what you pay for your car rental in Kona, Hawaii. We don't add tracker fees, GPS charges, cleaning surcharges for normal island sand and salt, or mandatory insurance add-ons at the counter.
What optional add-ons are available?
Airport concierge meet ($129 round-trip), beach mat and cooler kit ($24), roof rack with surfboard pads ($18), child seat ($12 per seat), and snorkel kit for two ($22). All are optional and pre-selected only if you request them.
Islands
Do you rent on both the Big Island and Kauaʻi?
Yes. We operate car rental on the Big Island, Hawaii, from Kona and car rental on Kauai from Lihuʻe. Each island has its own dedicated lifted fleet — we do not ferry vehicles between islands.
What is the best jeep rental near Lihue, Kauaʻi?
We're based in Lihuʻe and offer airport meet-and-greet at LIH for every Jeep rental Kauai booking. Our Kauaʻi fleet includes Wrangler Rubicons, Sport models, and the Grand Wagoneer — all available for Polihale, Waimea Canyon, Hanalei, and the north shore loop.
Can I pick up on the Big Island and return on Kauaʻi?
No — vehicles must be returned to the same island. Each fleet is dedicated to its island. You'd need a separate reservation for each car rental on the island if your trip spans both.
Do you deliver to Poipu and Princeville on Kauaʻi?
Yes. We deliver and pick up at most Poʻipu and Princeville resorts and vacation rentals across Kauaʻi for your car rental in Princeville, Kauai, or Poʻipu stay. Same-island returns are free.
